We are very pleased to introduce you to the Karri Card. 

A Mastercard for students 

The Karri Card is an innovative and secure way for parents to manage their child’s spending. Children get their name on a bank card and parents get peace of mind through transaction information and controls.  

Parents can top-up instantly, block lost cards, reset forgotten PINs and receive spending alerts in real time. Students can pay at South African merchants that accept Mastercard – perfect for purchases at school and beyond!  

In addition, the Karri Card provides simplicity and control not offered by a normal bank card: 

  • Sign up easily without the need for a birth certificate 
  • Set daily spending limits 
  • Rest easy knowing inappropriate merchants such as gambling vendors and liquor retailers are blocked (T&Cs for details) 
  • Multi-parent functionality which allows both parents to manage cards 

Spend. Win. Give: When a child spends any amount on their Karri Card, they stand to win R1,000 for themselves + R1,000 for a local charity of their choice (T&Cs apply). 

Opt in process: Parents who would like a Karri Card will have the option to opt-in via a Karri collection. Please pay for the collection before the closing date to get your card on the distribution day. 

Fees: Monthly card fees are R39pm for 1 card, R68pm for 2 cards, or R87pm for 3 cards (Incl. VAT). The first month will be billed upfront when opting in. A 2.5% instant top up fee applies. 

Card distribution: Cards will be handed out in class or available at reception on the distribution day. Distribution will take place within about 5 working days after the collection closes. Parents will receive an email when cards are ready. 

SA ID required: Due to local regulations, the Karri Card can only be activated by a parent with a SA ID number. Karri is working to offer the card to international parents in the future.
